2019 CES Las Vegas - WELT

"Booth design featuring branded products" 

The booth design project was carried out for CES 2019. A stage was created to promote WELT's main product, the Wellness Smart Belt. It was to attract the attention of customers visiting the show by creating a new booth design that resembles the product and stands out from the existing normal booth design.

Background : CES participation to increase brand awareness

WELT is a company that has participated in CES several times, but as a new startup, it needs to increase its brand awareness. In order to attract the attention of visitors in the CES exhibition hall, where there are hundreds of booths, the role of booth design was important, which shows the brand identity and is eye-catching at the same time.

Da das Hauptprodukt von WELT ein intelligenter Ledergürtel ist, habe ich im Vorfeld Geschäfte von Luxusmodemarken besucht, um die Einrichtung und die Gestaltung des Standes zu recherchieren. Um das Produkt attraktiv zu machen, wurde beschlossen, Modeprodukte zu verwenden, die üblicherweise mit Gürteln getragen werden. Ich schlug vor, Anzüge oder Schuhe in den Stand zu stellen, damit die Besucher ausprobieren können, welche Kleidung zu einem Gürtel passt.  Außerdem wurden verschiedene Methoden erprobt, um nicht nur den horizontalen, sondern auch den vertikalen Raum des Standes zu nutzen.

Belt-inspired Booth design

I was inspired by the Smart Belt, the representative product of the WELT brand. The idea was that visitors could enter a booth in the shape of a belt to see the smart belts. 

The shape of the belt itself was considered suitable for the booth design, so the booth was designed according to this shape. I tried to hang the buckles of the belt from the ceiling like a chandelier. I intended the metal buckles to reflect the strong lighting of the exhibition hall and be visible from afar. However, due to budget and time issues, as well as the weight of dozens of metal buckles, the buckle chandelier was not realized.

The booth was designed with the various design elements requested by each of the company's departments in mind, and its feasibility was verified in discussions with booth builders on-site in Las Vegas.

The exhibition has a fixed booth space and limited facilities available. The things needed for the exhibition are different for each department. For example, the technical department needs a place to demonstrate the function of the product by installing computers and mobile devices. The marketing and sales departments need a place to talk to customers who want to buy or sign a contract. And space to store items needed for display should also be reflected in the design of the booth. These various design elements were considered and the realization of the booth design was discussed with booth builders in Las Vegas.

Installation

The booth installation collaborated with a local installation company in Las vegas.

I encountered a very big problem at the show. The buckle structure, which is the heart of the booth, was lost by the installation company. Also, it was difficult to install the booth because the installation company did not have enough staff. As a designer, I had to create an alternative on site. I participated in the design myself and used the alternative materials and was able to complete the installation safely.

The CES trade show was successful and contracts were signed with a lot of buyers. I was able to sell a lot of products to customers and promote them.
